Book Highlights Artists with Autism

Behavior analyst and educator Jill Mullen has put together a collection of paintings, drawings, and collages created by people with Autism. The art work is accompanied by interviews with the artists. Autism Viewed as an Asset for Some Jobs

Several companies are promoting the employment strengths of individuals on the Autism Spectrum. In Denmark, Specialisterne provides job training for individuals with Autism for data entry and assembly work. A non-profit company in the United States, Aspiritech has recently begun a program to train people with high-functioning Autism as software testers. These companies view the traits associated with Autism of attention to detail, single focus, and ability to thrive on repetitive, "tedious" tasks as assets in this type of work. High School Senior with Autism is Football Team's Hardest Working Player

According to his team, Marcel Green the first player in uniform ready for each game, the first to volunteer to help move equipment, and one of the most supportive players during the game. Green initially joined the athletic program to "get in shape for college," he says, be he has become an important part of the team. Teammate Tony Lippett says, "He is the spirit of the team."
